I think it’s safe to say we could all use a little more CALM in our lives… am I right?! I can admit that over the years I’ve had to put some good effort in learning the art of being calm. Have I grasped it fully?… ehhh, not really, but I’m getting there.
I’m definitely learning to be a much calmer person, letting go and letting God to sum it up. But it’s a journey. So, aren’t I lucky that I can also rely on Natural Vitality’s Natural CALM powder to give me a little helping hand!
Last month I was able to share Natural Vitality’s Calmful Balance Guide on the blog and I’ve heard how many of you have signed up to get the free guide to bring more calmness and balance to your life – yay!
Today, I wanted to share one of the amazing recipes from the free guide (yes, you can still get your own free copy!) as it caught my eye, because well, I love chocolate and I love feeling calm!
The Chocolate Chia Smoothie combines the delicious creamy texture of frozen banana, blended with digestion boosting chia seeds, cocoa powder, nut butter, a non-dairy milk of choice and of course, the Natural CALM powder!
The powder is basically a formula providing a highly absorbable, water-soluble magnesium, along with calcium that is ready to go to work in the body right away. The powder works to both restore a healthy magnesium level and balance calcium intake—the result of which is a natural calming effect. Ahhhhhh… relaxation.
I personally used the Natural CALM powder a lot back at the beginning of 2014 when I went through a major period of adrenal fatigue (not fun) and it helped me with my sleep issues, anxiety, and overall stress levels, so I definitely have a personal appreciation for Natural Vitality (plus I won’t ever promote brands I don’t truly stand behind!).
I love how creamy and delicious this smoothie is with it’s rich, velvety, chocolate flavours and texture! Also, knowing that the smoothie boosts my health in many ways is big plus!
For my recreation of the Chocolate Chia Smoothie I chose to add in dark chocolate shavings and I went with almond milk, my favourite non-dairy milk!
I was sure to sprinkle some chia seeds on top (and there’s plenty of chia blended in too) for a little crunch and used peanut butter as my nut butter of choice because I’m a sucker for the PB-Banana-Chocolate combo! To keep the smoothie Paleo friendly you could always use almond or even cashew butter!
If you haven’t stopped by the Natural Vitality website yet I highly recommend it. They publish a free online magazine called Organic Connections and it’s FULL of fantastic information for a healthy body, lifestyle, home, and more!
And, if you have the Natural CALM powder or not, this smoothie is definitely worth a try – simple, quick, easy, and very delicious!
Have a beautiful, calm, and enjoyable Sunday!
- Mix chia seeds with milk and natural calm. Let sit for 10-15 minutes to allow chia seeds to absorb some of the liquid.
- Add the chia mixture to a blender along with the cocao powder, frozen banana, and nut butter.
- Blend until smooth.
- (Garnish with chia seeds and shaved dark chocolate if you would like!)
