Along with my cookie obsession as of late, I’ve been alllll over the slow cooker! My most recent recipes Slow Cooker Cashew Chicken Curry and Slow Cooker Seafood Paella were so darn delicious, I went on a quest in the blogosphere to find more slow cooker inspiration.
Then I came across this…
This Crock Pot Sesame Honey Chicken by Skinny Taste.
Winner, winner, chicken dinner! I knew it had to be made!
The best part, I didn’t have to change a darn thing in the original recipe – it was perfect!
I was super happy to see there was no use of refined sugars, and all the ingredients, as long as you buy good (preferably organic) brands, are great!
The nutritional information was also nice to see!
Only 185 calories per serving, high protein, lower carb (so no harm in serving this over some brown rice or quinoa!), and much lower in sugars than any restaurant honey sesame chicken you’d find! Plus, the sugars come naturally from the raw honey and the tomato paste!
Since I’ve been doing healthy meal preparation and delivery for my nutrition clients, I’m always looking for great recipes that are easy to put together and I can make in big batches then separate into individually portioned meals!
This slow cooker chicken definitely fit the bill! It’s super tasty with a hint of sweet and savoury, filling, and nicely balanced! I paired the slow cooker chicken with some sesame oil sautéed rice and broccoli, then topped it with green onions and of course, toasted sesame seeds!
Yum, yum, yum!
Thank you Skinny Taste for a fantastic recipe that’s going in the books for sure!

Hi Chrystal, could I sub the cornstarch with Tapioca starch? 1:1? Thanks!
Yes!
This is a super yummy meal, and unbelievably easy. I love using my slow cooker, especially for shredded chicken or other meat. I only had regular soy sauce to use, not low sodium, and it was a bit saltier than I’d ideally like. Definitely go the low sodium route and you’ll have a hit of a dinner.
Thanks Danielle! 🙂
This looks SO good! I’ve been on the hunt for healthy and delicious slow cooker recipes too, so I’m going to have to add this one to my list! Skinnytaste is one of my favorite blogs!
I know so many great recipes!
