In my nutrition practice I see all types of personalities – but everyone has the same goals in general – to feel healthier, have more energy, and be able to MAINTAIN a better level of overall health (whether this pertains to healthy weight, digestive issues, hormonal balance, etc.).
Many succeed… but not without a fight. I find the biggest obstacle in many clients success is… themselves!
Somehow, whether consciously or subconsciously so many of us tend to self-sabotage and really struggle to reach our health goals because of this. I believe it’s SO important to take time to reflect on the following before you embark on a wellness journey in order to see more clearly where you may struggle and understand how to trick yourself out of the self-sabotage routine.
I do a daily devotional by Leon Fontaine, and one of his devotionals was about just this… self-sabotage. Although we can apply these principles to all aspects of our lives and our entire belief system, it applies so well to health that I just had to share about it.
So… take a minute and answer these questions for yourself…
Do you always crash and burn before your reach your health goals?
Is it because your thoughts are consumed with failure?
Do you struggle to SEE yourself as successful?
Do you have a clear vision of where you’d like to ultimately be?
What we FOCUS our thoughts on eventually determines what we BELIEVE. So do you always focus on the negative, the challenges, the hurdles (no time, no energy, don’t like cooking…etc.)? This is important to realize because what we BELIEVE eventually becomes what we EXPERIENCE.
See the connection…
OUR CONTINUAL FOCUS —> OUR PERSONAL BELIEFS —> OUR EXPERIENCES/REALITY
If your view of yourself and your continual focus is always failure OR based only on what you’ve been able to achieve in the past you will truly LIMIT yourself and continue the cycle of self-sabotage.
Here’s the kicker : : : YOU MUST SEE YOURSELF WITH UNLIMITED POTENTIAL.
So, before you embark on your wellness journey, kick that self-sabotaging behaviour in the butt and DETERMINE where you want to GO, and make THAT VISION your CONTINUAL FOCUS, because if you do, it will eventually become your REALITY.
Take 10 minutes EVERY DAY to SEE yourself ALREADY THERE and eventually… you will be!
Have a fantastic Wednesday!
