Simple & Healthy Muesli Breakfast
In preparation for our Maui trip this year I decided to do a few more recipe revamps on the blog of some of my favorite, and still popular recipes. These revamps are such a great way to take old content (sometimes with embarrassingly bad photography…at least I’ve come a long way?!) and give them new life.
I’m sure if you are a regular reader you see that I do this on occasion and it’s always nice to see these old posts get some fresh love!
Today’s muesli breakfast is a favorite of mine and has been for years. I’m actually pretty sure I ate this for breakfast every morning for about 6-months straight back in 2015. Seriously! It’s just so tasty, fresh, simple, and perfectly filling for those who like to be satisfied but not stuffed at breakfast.
Is muesli good for breakfast?
That would be a resounding yes!
Muesli is filling, healthy and quick – which is what everyone can benefit from in the morning, right?? In less than 5-minutes this bowl can be easily whipped up, providing the body with complex and simple carbohydrates for energy, fibre for healthy digestion, proteins for blood stabilization and fats for that satisfying factor!
This breakfast bowl is definitely well balanced nutritionally and is actually a breakfast that I’ve been making myself while here in Maui too as it’s a great way to start the day before heading off to the beach or out for a snorkel. It’ energizing, not too filling as to leave you feeling heavy, and it’s easily digested!
How do you eat muesli for breakfast?
One of the best things about muesli for breakfast is that you really can get creative and alter it to your liking.
With Fruit // Enjoy the muesli with berries or change it up to different fruit like peaches or diced apple.
With Yogurt or Milk // Along with the muesli you can have Greek yogurt, coconut yogurt, or almond yogurt, or regular or non-dairy milk.
With Tasty Toppings // Sprinkle with your favourite fun toppings like cocoa nibs, hemp seeds, and toasted coconut.
Try It Cooked // You can also enjoy muesli warm by mixing it with milk, regular or non-dairy, on the stovetop until thicker like an oatmeal consistency.
The sky’s the limit with this one!
Ingredients for a Muesli Breakfast Bowl
To make this simple wake-me-up dish you only need the following ingredients:
- Plain dairy-free Coconut yogurt (or plain 0% fat Greek yogurt if dairy-free isn’t needed)
- Unsweetened gluten-free muesli (if you can, try to find one with a mix of nuts, dried fruits, and gluten-free rolled oats)
- Fresh strawberries
- Fresh raspberries
- Fresh blueberries
- Banana
- Honey or pure maple syrup
- Pistachios
- Mint, to garnish (optional)
I’d actually love to host a friends brunch in the future and make breakfast muesli bowls the main dish with a table spread with all the different add-ins and toppings. Wouldn’t that be a fun way to gather with friends, enjoy a healthy meal, and get creative at the same time?

how many weight watchers points does it have?
Hi Michele, I’m not sure as I’m not familiar with the weight watchers point system!
Full of nutrition, good test, healthy to eat. One improvement- please add zip lock to packet…
I would totally enjoy this muesli with protein pudding (protein powder + water + Stevia)! Healthy, convenient, and beautifully colorful breakfast! Muesli is definitely an ingredient I need to try to replicate at home. And I’d gladly attend your muesli party!
Haha thanks Cassie!!
As a Client i can attest to this one it takes longer to eat then to make! it’s very tasty and even in the winter time when fresh berries aren’t abundant and flavorful this bowl is very filling.!
Thanks Norm!
This looks great! I, too still cringe at my photographs. Going to a food styling course next month and it is long overdue! Will give this one a try! Thanks!
Awesome! Where are you doing that course??
There is definitely a change in photography and some adjustments to the ingredients used, but I bet they are still both packed full of awesome flavour 😀 Both bowls sounds heavenly, and with that much colourful fruit – it’s impossible not to enjoy with a smile on your face first thing in the morning 🙂 Yum!
I haven’t seen coconut yogurt in the shops here yet, fingers crossed it wont be long in the coming though! Have a fantasmic Sunday! x
Ooo Coconut yogurt is so yummy, I hope you get some there soon so you can try it! 🙂
Quick question…what brand of coconut yogurt do you use? I am dairy-free & REALLY miss yogurt… have tried one brand of coconut yogurt & the taste was repulsive!
I use the So Delicious plain coconut yogurt and add a little stevia to sweeten it! 🙂
