Some of my favourite travel memories are of road trips I’ve taken with my family, friends, and hubby. I’ve been lucky enough to travel quite a bit over the past decade to many destinations where air travel is required, but I honestly get just as excited for road trips, especially trips to British Columbia or the US, or even quick jaunts to the mountains for the weekend. Having done many road trips I’ve perfected the art of packing a cooler with snacks that not only satisfy all those road trip munchies but nourish the body at the same time. That’s no easy task! 

Today I’ve compiled a list of tasty, easy, and healthy road trip snacks that you can take along with you in a bag or cooler for any length of drive to keep you fuelled, satisfied, and nourished! I’ve split these 20 snack ideas into two categories; sweet and savory. It seems there are many standard road trip snacks that aren’t so healthy and these are all great substitutes. Move aside drive-thru donuts and Doritos and come-on-in healthy banana bread and homemade vegan chips!

Typical road trip snacks on the sweet side can include everything from chocolate bars to Twizzlers to conventional muffins and sugar-laden granola bars. These options are all on the sweet side but are instead made with unrefined sugars, whole food ingredients, healthy fats, and even some protein. They are also gluten free, dairy free, and mostly plant-based!
