We are just a couple weeks away from Christmas and I’m sure many of you, like myself, have been to at least a couple of holiday parties, events, or dinners…and have enjoyed a few (or many) sugary festive treats! While I am a big advocate of balance and don’t deny myself of my fave treats or indulgent meals this time of year, I do also make sure to take care of myself by staying active, hydrated, and give my body some love with gut-boosting superfoods found in this delicious Detoxifying Christmas Cranberry Smoothie.
Our systems can take a bit of a beating this time of year. It’s just part of holiday culture to have baked goods on every desk and counter top, lavish meals planned with friends and family to gather and feast, and cheers with egg nog, wine, and other boozy delights, so it’s nice to give our bodies a bit of a detoxifying boost!
This beautiful, bright, and festive cranberry smoothie not only looks pretty but it tastes amazing and hidden within it are some of the best detoxifying ingredients you can find!
The main stars of this cranberry smoothie include cranberries (big surprise!) which naturally cleanse the body as they have antibiotic and antiviral properties, ginger, which stimulates digestion and circulation, cinnamon, known to activate digestive enzymes in the body for increased detoxification, hemp seeds and pear, both wonderfully rich in fibre, and Genuine Health’s Clean Collagen, which supports gut lining strength and overall digestive health.
The ginger, cinnamon, pear, and cranberry also work together to create a lovely flavour combination that definitely has some festive flair, perfect for this time of year!
This cranberry smoothie is definitely a detoxifying powerhouse and it’s also balanced, filling, and satisfying as it contains all three macronutrients; fats, proteins, and carbohydrates. The clean collagen and hemp seeds bring in protein and healthy fats and the pear and cranberry add in energizing carbohydrates and fibre.
With all of the big, indulgent feasts, it’s nice to give the body a break and enjoy this cranberry smoothie for breakfast, lunch, or even dinner a couple times during the holidays, it’s filling enough and will give your digestive system a nice big hug.
I was super excited when Genuine Health reached out to let me know about their Clean Collagen product launch as I’ve been a fan of Genuine Health products for years (if you’ve been a long time NITK reader you’ll have seen the many recipes I’ve created using their amazing products), and I’ve also been using collagen powder for quite some time and absolutely love how easy it is to digest and how well it blends into so many different kinds of recipes.
While I’ve tried several collagen products on the market I can’t say they are all the same, especially when it comes to quality, taste and texture, but as expected, the Clean Collagen line is top notch. The powder is super fine, doesn’t clump, has virtually no taste (the unflavoured, as they have flavoured varieties too which are really yummy!), and blends into smoothies, soups, sauces, dressings, tea, and other drinks like a charm.
For this recipe I used the unflavoured grass fed and pasture raised bovine collagen which blended in perfectly and kept the flavour of the cranberry smoothie unchanged but added in the benefits of collagen, and there are many including improved skin hydration, diminished visible signs of aging (that must be why I look so youthful…ha!), improved cardiovascular function, better physical performance and joint health, and better bone density.
If you haven’t started using collagen, it’s definitely time you do!
Whatever you have on your plate (figuratively and literally!) over the next few weeks, I hope you’ll take a few moments to whirl up this delicious cranberry smoothie in your blender and take a moment to sit down, relax, take a deep breath, and give your body a little detoxifying love.
While you’re at it, head over to Genuine Health to read more about their new clean collagen products and hop on the collagen train with me!

Love the color of this smoothie! So bright and festive. Fun idea to use pears and cranberries in a smoothie…can’t say I’ve used those before! 🙂
